Mondes Projects, in partnership with CSNPC, have played a key role in aiding the council’s asset portfolio transition to a more sustainable, low-carbon future. Our team of Mechanical Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Environmental Scientists, and Surveyors worked closely with CSNPC to assess and enhance the energy efficiency across a diverse range of buildings, including Council Offices, Community Centres, Libraries, and Leisure Centres.
Through a detailed analysis of the council’s existing buildings, services, policies and operations, we developed strategic decarbonisation roadmaps tailored to each building’s unique needs. Our collaborative approach ensured that our recommendations were fully aligned with local goals and the broader Net Zero objectives for Swindon. As part of the process, we managed feasibility studies, environmental assessments, and the Salix application process, all while ensuring alignment with the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme (PSDS) requirements for funding.
Key outputs of our work included delivering comprehensive decarbonisation reports and design solutions for each building. Mondes undertook investment grade energy audits, site surveys, and energy modelling, resulting in bespoke heat decarbonisation reports that not only provided insights into each building’s energy use but also outlined actionable steps to achieve net-zero emissions. Additionally, we assessed the feasibility of heat district networks and alternative technologies to identify the most efficient solutions for each building’s requirements. The reports featured tailored energy data, financial assessments, and practical recommendations for both short-term and long-term improvements. Our CIBSE-accredited low-carbon Mechanical and Electrical Design Engineers also developed detailed and bespoke RIBA Stage 2 and Stage 3 design packages for low-carbon heating solutions, providing detailed technical specifications crucial for securing funding and quickly advancing the project.
The successful outcomes of our work enabled CSNPC to reduce carbon emissions by an estimated 3,700,000 kg CO2, setting a leading example for other councils striving for sustainability. The positive feedback from the council committee reinforced the success of the project, showcasing how a combination of detailed technical expertise, collaborative design, and alignment with PSDS funding requirements can result in impactful, sustainable outcomes.
This partnership highlights Mondes Projects’ commitment to creating energy-efficient, future-proof buildings while securing funding and enhancing building systems for long-term sustainability.
